Tips for your photo session.

HAIR & MAKEUP

Men: Fresh cut hair tends to pull back rather than lay naturally the day after it is cut. So, it’s best to have your hair trimmed at least 7 days prior to your session. Very short cuts or fades are exceptions to this rule.

Women: Treat yourself with a haircut if you think you will need it. Style your hair and apply your makeup like you normally do. Use hair spray (or hair pins) to keep your style and flyaway hairs in check. Unlike actors and news anchors, you don’t need to apply more makeup to emphasize your facial features—your everyday look is best.

WARDROBE

Come dressed in your first outfit. Most sessions include the option for an outfit change, and we will leave time for that. When you come ready it will give you more time in front of the camera.

Choose a solid color. Prints can sometimes be distracting in photographs, stealing attention away from you and clashing with items in the background. Pops of color are good. White and black near your face are not.

Wear clothes that fit well. No matter what the size or body type, every figure looks best in cloths that fit. Sp, avoid loose and slouchy—and tight and tug-ridden.

Avoid clothes that are old, worn out or faded. And stay away from fashions that are trendy. It’s okay to show your style sense, but use modesty when choosing outfits without staying power.

SESSION OBJECTIVES

Before your session, make sure you have clearly defined your session objectives. Consider your brand’s tone and colors, and your target market customer. Is your style dark and moody, clean and bright, vivid or whimsical? Send us your shot list—a list of images you absolutely need to have (and be open to our suggestions for additional perspectives) . Be sure to include how the images will be used. Do you need portrait, landscape or square, color retouching or black and white? Will your designer want RAW files, high-res JPEGs or low-res online-ready pics?? Knowing what you want to accomplish will ensure you get exactly what you want in the time we have together.
